Patient Intake Coordinator, Remote (US medical practices)

US medical practices are hiring a patient intake coordinator through RemoteVetted. You'll register patients, collect and verify insurance information, and manage pre-authorization requests. You're the first point of contact—clear communication and attention to detail keep everything running smoothly. What you'll do

  • Register new patients and collect demographic and medical history information accurately
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits before appointments or procedures
  • Prepare and submit pre-authorization requests to insurance companies
  • Follow up on pending authorizations and communicate status to patients and clinical staff
  • Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA)
  • Process insurance forms and handle billing-related questions from patients
  • Scan and file patient documents in the electronic health record system
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues and claim denials

What you need

  • Fluent English (C1 level): clear written and spoken communication for phone calls and emails with patients and insurance companies
  • Experience in medical office administration, patient intake, or healthcare billing
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with forms and data entry
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a busy healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance processes and medical terminology
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for patient calls

Nice to have

  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy requirements
  • Previous experience handling insurance pre-authorizations
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English)
