What you'll do
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage benefits before appointments
- Contact insurance companies via phone or online portals to confirm coverage details
- Research and resolve insurance claim denials and coverage disputes
- Update patient records with eligibility information and benefits summaries
- Explain coverage details and out-of-pocket costs to patients clearly
- Handle insurance pre-authorizations and obtain necessary approvals before procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation of all verification calls and communications
- Process insurance changes and coordinate benefits between multiple plans
What you need
- Fluent English (B2+) for phone calls with insurance companies and patient communication
- Experience verifying medical or dental insurance benefits
- Comfortable using insurance company portals and phone systems
- Attention to detail when recording eligibility and coverage information
- Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for US business hours
Nice to have
- Experience with dental practice management software like Dentrix or Open Dental
- Familiarity with dental procedure codes and insurance terminology
- Previous work in a dental or medical office
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements
